Rare Disease Day

Today and always I celebrate YOU brave men and women, children alike who suffers from a rare condition. Rare but we do exist!

A rare disease is any disease that affects a small percentage of the population. Most rare diseases are genetic, and are present throughout a person's entire life, even if symptoms do not immediately appear.

Rare and genetic diseases are uncommon to most doctors! Therefore, those who suffers from a rare disease are all around at a disadvantage as well as faces medical challenges. Approximately 50% of rare diseases do not have a disease specific foundation supporting or researching their rare disease. There are approximately 7,000 different types of rare diseases and disorders.

There are 30 million people in the United States that are living with rare diseases.

I am so proud to be part of the RARE bunch! Pictured is my long, colorful and beautiful Klippel Trenaunay leg.

Achieving personal victories is the greatest burst of life one can feel. One of the greatest things you can do for yourself is learning different ways to love ALL OF YOU! When you feel good about who you are, in your own skin, flaws and all, life begins to fall into place from that point. The journey to embrace my scars was not as sweet and easy as it may seems but I remained brave enough to love and honor myself even when it hurts.

on this RARE DISEASE day and onward, I want you to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I STAND WITH YOU!
